MWC 2013 latest rumor about new devices that will be presented

Thanks to Google + profile of Flavio Pic, a person who should be very close to the sources believed to be reliable, we can take conlusion and make a list of the new android device that we will see at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2013, which will begin on February 25. Below is a list of companies that will be involved with their new devices that will be released on 2013.

As we all know, the Galaxy S4 wont be presented at MWC 2013. But Samsung 2013 new tablet, as the Galaxy Note 8 have been previewed yesterday. Will most likely be also presented some device or tablet, the range Tab 3 .

HTC
The "falling" HTC should exhibit well 6 smartphone event, 4 of which were already known. It is Desire, Desire X (which should arrive on the European market), One SV and htc One X +, in addition to M7 and another smartphone to be confirmed. As for HTC M7, is not yet known whether this will be his final name but will most likely be announced shortly before the start of the event.
Huawei
Huawei, in addition to its monstrous Ascend P2, should not present any major device, and should gamble almost on par with Alcatel presenting thin smartphone as well as the new Ascend P2.

Asus
Asus should be present at the event with 2 new Android devices: a smartphone and a tablet. On your smartphone, we know that it will have a 5-inch Full-HD and amenities from top of the range, while the tablet should have a display diagonal equal to 7 inches and features complete phone.

Alcatel
Alcatel should present two new Android smartphones, one of which is ultra-thin at Ascends P2. To achieve these levels of subtlety, though, unlike company Huawei could not implement the 3.5 mm audio jack for headphones, so you will need a special adapter. It will be most likely a high-end smartphones. Other things that should be presented would have a design almost identical to that of the iPhone 4/4S, Dual-SIM, midrange features and affordable price.

Sony
The Japanese Sony should stand at the Mobile World Congress 2013 with two new midrange Android smartphone that will accompany the new Xperia z. No further information about theXperia Z Tablet that should be present at the event.

Jolla News Market share Q4 2013 and a view to the future of Jolla phone

http://www.icharts.net/chartchannel/top-5-worldwide-smartphone-vendors-4q-2013-share-units_m3lxzcxdc
Top Five Worldwide Smartphone Vendors, Shipments Q4/2013

  • Samsung 28,8%
  • Apple 17,9%
  • Huawei 5,8%
  • Lenovo 4,9%
  • LG 4,6%
  • Others 37,9%
Source: IDC Worldwide Mobile Phone Tracker, January 27, 2014

  • As part of the "Others" above, Jolla has 0,005%

Top Five Worldwide Smartphone Platforms, Shipments Q4/2012 & Q4/2013

AOSP (Android Open Source Project) with 25% at Q4/2013 has a huge gain compared to year back. These phones (forked Android) are mostly sold in China, India and other parts of Asian markets. A great deal of these phones have Android versions which are still using Google services, but back in October 2013 Google locked their Google Play service from forked Android phones (e.g. Kindle). Apps developed on Google API and dependent of Play services are not working in these phones any more.

Sailfish OS and Android support

Android support on Jolla is independent of Google Play services, but more and more apps developed on Google API are dependent on these. Due to this, Jolla owners might face a problem in close future - future Android apps developed on Google API will not run properly, and users are forced to hunt older, working versions of their desired apps. I might have encountered this already while updating Navfree - last working version seems to be 2.1.14

Its obvious that its not in Googles interest to enable their apps to run on any other platforms but unforked Android, and the 4% loss in their market share of native Android can already be heard as a sound of alarm for them. Its possible, even probable, that the support outside Googles Android is  getting even worse in a long run.

While all this we should be extremely happy and excited about each new native Sailfish OS app reaching Jolla Store. The phone is the cake, but its not much without great apps decorating it. On behalf of our community I want to show some respect for every single app developed:

Review Jollas thanks to Sailfish app developers

Starting soon, this blog will review as much Sailfish apps as possible. My first app review was IRC for Sailfish, but let that be just a beginning. As the amount of apps is growing, I also wish to welcome app reviews written by others to be shared here, please contribute for this common purpose and shere your respect with nice, yet honest, reviews.

Also, you will not find any more Android app reviews on this blog. Those already written (Go Launcher EX, Navfree, Plex, Flash player) may stay, as well as the App report tool where you can still share your experience from both Sailfish and Android apps (see Community DIT). In overall, this blog takes a turn towards Sailfish.

Conclusion

Sailfish OS will surely gain its independent market share in time, and while Google reduces their support outside native Android, Jolla has no idea to advance with its Android support in a long run. While the amount of native Sailfish apps is small, Android support remains as an important part of Jolla - especially in entering markets in Asia.

I wish that both Jolla and our great community will give their full support, in many different ways, to all Sailfish app developers - this has a first-rate importance.

Gamescom 2013 Hands On Assassins Creed 4 Black Flag PS4

A hands on with Assassins Creed 4: Black Flag at Gamescom 2013
Ubisofts Assassins Creed franchise is a modern success story about great ideas, novel mechanics, and a collaboration between the French companys many different worldwide studios.

With Assassins Creed 4: Black Flag, the game is going into a new, more focused direction, as it opts to emphasize the surprisingly popular naval warfare aspect from last years Assassins Creed 3 while telling the story of Edward Kenway, the grandfather of AC3 hero Connor.

While quite a few different videos and details about Black Flag have already appeared online, Ubisoft opted to show off a few new things at Gamescom 2013, offering members of the media hands-on experiences with the PlayStation 4 edition of the game and tasking them with taking over a pirate stronghold as well as engage in different things such as harpooning a shark.

The naval warfare from Assassins Creed 3 has been fleshed out a bit more in the fourth installment, as Edward can interact with his ship, the Jackdaw, in many different ways, as well as with its crew. The targeting and firing have been improved, while enemy ship AI has gotten a bit smarter, even if it will sometimes smash into rocks or piers when trying to reach the player.
