Nokia E90 Communicator

The Nokia E90 Communicator is a mammoth. On the upside, the smart phone has a solid construction and looks like it could weather some rough treatment. Its also got a decidedly no nonsense, corporate look, which suits its intended audience of power business users.

Like its feature set, the Nokia E90 Communicators design is quite large. The exterior of the E90 features a 2 inch diagonal, 16 million color display with a 320x240 pixel resolution. Its not a touch screen, but text and images are vibrant and sharp. Below the screen, youll find a standard navigation array of two soft keys, Talk and End buttons, a shortcut to the Main Menu, a four way toggle with center select key, and the alphanumeric dial pad.

This is one area where the phones bigger size is an advantage since the extra room allows for large buttons that are easy to press.

The extra room does allow for a roomy alphanumeric dial pad and navigation array. Aside from roomy controls, theres another benefit to Nokia E90s bulkiness.

The candy bar style phone opens up to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard and a 3.6 inch wide internal display.

The latter has a 16 million color output and 800x352 pixel resolution that makes for an impressive view. The wide screen also lends itself really well for browsing Web sites and reading documents and emails. Also, flanking the screen is another set of Talk and End buttons and two soft keys. Opening the candy bar style smart phone reveals a 3.6 inch internal display and full QWERTY keyboard.

The keyboard shouldnt give users too many problems as far as typing with ease and accuracy. The individual buttons are roomy, so its not an issue that there isnt much spacing between them. They also have a tactile feel to them our only complaint would be that theyre a bit stiff to press.

In addition, theres a dedicated number row, and right below the display, you will find shortcuts to various applications, including Contacts, Messaging, Web, and Calendar. On the right spine, theres a voice recorder button and a camera activation key, while the bottom of the device has a mini USB port, a power connector, and a 2.5 millimeter headset jack. On the back you will find the 3.2 megapixel camera and flash, and a microSD expansion slot.

Nokia announces PureView 808 with a 41 MP sensor

Today at their MWC2012s press event, Nokia brought the PureView teaser to fever pitch with the 41 megapixel camera of the Symbian Belle-running Nokia PureView 808.


The Nokia 808 PureView uses a 41 MP sensor, which captures image data from seven adjacent pixels and condenses it into one, resulting in stills at around 5 MP resolution with amazing detail and low noise levels. The optics are Carl Zeiss and theres Xenon flash and a LED one acting as a video light.
Technically, the sensor is able to capture 3 MP, 5 MP, 8 MP, 38 MP at 4:3 aspect ratio and 2 MP, 5 MP [Default], 8 MP, 34 MP at 16:9.
Video recording goes as high as FullHD 1080p at 30 fps and theres also 720p@30fps. Video is H264 encoded and supports stereo sound. The large image sensor allows 4x zoom in 1080p and 6x in 720p.

Nokia 808 PureView
The Nokia 808 PureView has a single-core 1.3 GHz processor and 512 MB of RAM and runs Symbian Belle. The display is a 16:9 4" AMOLED unit of nHD (640 x 360) resolution covered with curved Gorilla Glass.
Theres NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, USB on the go and 16 GB of onboard storage.
The Nokia 808 PureView should be on the shelves around May 2012.

Second touch enabled S40 Nokia C3 01 Touch and Type announced

Nokia is getting serious about touch on S40 - they just announced the Nokia C3-01 Touch and Type, the second touch enabled S40. Its got a stainless steel body like the 6700 classic, 5MP camera, 3G and adds Wi-Fi to the mix.
Of course, the key difference between the Nokia C3-01 Touch and Type and 6700 classic is the touch part - the new C3-01 has a 2.4" touchscreen, like its more music-minded sibling - the Nokia X3-02 Touch and Type. It has a 12-key hardware keypad too.

Like the X3-02, the Nokia C3 Touch and Type has some of the best features ever on a Series 40 device. A 5MP camera with flash and Wi-Fi make it an S40 royalty. Its got quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity and also 3G with HSPA. The internal memory is expandable by microSD cards up to 32GB.
On the software side, the Nokia C3-01 Touch and Type has Twitter and Facebook integration, the latest Nokia Messaging and email along with Ovi Store access.
The Nokia C3-01 Touch and Type has a slim stainless steel body - it measures 111 x 47.5 x 11mm. It should offer a lot of bang for the buck - its expected to cost 145 euro (190 US dollars) before taxes and subsidies. It will ship in the fourth quarter of this year.

The C3 Touch and Type device combines a traditional keyboard with the benefits of a touch screen. What else is new in the latest Cseries to be announced? Read on after the break for more.
The design is reminiscent of classic Nokia devices such as the Nokia 6700 classic and Nokia 6300 phones, and gives users familiar with such models both the familiarity of their trusty older devices and single-handed operation. Plus a taste of the modern through the ability to operate the device through a touch interface.
The Series 40 device promises best-in-class communications, with Quad band phone calling, and both 3G/HSPA and WiFi internet connectivity. It comes with Nokia messaging 3.0, the latest incarnation of Nokia’s email, instant messaging and the Communities client offering Facebook and Twitter access. The device also allows users access to games and other applications through the Ovi Store.
The new C3 offers a high-quality build for your money, with a 100% stainless steel case and a 5-megapixel camera with flash on board. It will come in Silver, Warm grey and Khaki Gold colour variations. It measures 111 x 47.5 x 11mm, with the screen measuring 2.4-inches, diagonally. The device supports MicroSD memory cards for storage up to 32MB.
The C3 Touch and Type is expected to cost €145 before taxes or subsidies and will start shipping in the fourth quarter of this year.

BBM coming to Nokia Lumia Update And Nokia X

Nokia has taken to the stage at the MWC 2014 and the announcements are coming in thick and fast. One of the first announcements is some new apps for the Lumia platform, including BBM for Lumia.



BBM or BlackBerry Messenger has traditionally been limited to BlackBerry devices until it was made available on iOS and Android last year. Now BBM will also be available on Lumia devices, bringing it to an even wider audience. The app will be available ‘in the coming months’.

Update: BBM will also be available on the new Nokia X series phones, but that is not that big a deal since BlackBerry already has an Android app.

Nokia now shipping Symbian 3 devices with Belle out the box

Nokia have now confirmed via their official Twitter feed that major updates have already begun rolling out to a number of devices currently running Symbian Anna, bumping them up to Symbian Belle, news that a lot of Nokia fans will no doubt welcome with open arms.
Devices including the N8, as well as the likes of Nokias E7, C7, E6, X7, C6-01 and 500 will all now ship with Symbian Belle pre-installed. The latest iteration of the Symbian OS brings functionality and a general user experience more inline with that of Android and iOS.


Nokia have confirmed that devices will be available in a number of markets including Turkey and India, but they recommend that you check with your local retailer to see whether or not youll be able to pick up a device running Belle.

Nokia Lumia 620 unveiled brings WP8 on the cheap

Nokia has just introduced a new member of its Lumia family of WP8 smartphones. The Nokia Lumia 620 runs on the latest edition of the Microsoft mobile platform and hopes to impress you with a distinct youthful design, S4 Snapdragon chipset and an attractive price tag.



The Nokia Lumia 620 comes with a 3.8" ClearBlack LCD display of WVGA resolution and is powered by a two Krait CPU cores clocked at 1GHz, the Adreno 305 GPU and 512MB of RAM. The internal storage is 8GB, and is expandable though the microSD card slot.

The Nokia Lumia 620 offers a 5 megapixel primary camera with LED flash at the back and a VGA front-facing shooter for video-chats. Video recording maxes out at 720p@30fps.

Being a part of the Nokia Lumia lineup, the 620 has access to the exclusive Nokia Drive app, which provides free lifetime voice-guided navigation and offline access. The Nokia Music no log-in streaming service is also available. The smartphone will be relying heavily on those to help it in its battle with theHTC Windows Phone 8S, which has very similar hardware.

The Nokia Lumia 620 comes with the usual for WP8 smartphones set of connectivity options - Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, GPS, 2G and 3G with HSDPA support. Theres no LTE here, but given the handsets mid-range status, that was to be expected.

The Nokia Lumia 620 will be available in a range of colors including, lime green, orange, magenta, yellow, cyan, white and black. Its estimated to cost $249, excluding taxes and subsidies and will begin selling in January 2013 in Asia, followed closely by Europe and the Middle East before expanding further.
